About Sequence Holdings
Sequence buys established businesses in the service economy and rebuilds them around what AI now makes possible, keeping what already works and changing how the business operates. It brings capital, engineering and operating expertise and works alongside each company's existing leaders and staff. Its shared technology platform, Atlas, gets stronger with every business it transforms. Sequence is based in New York City and backed by 8VC, Conviction, Lux Capital and other partners.
The role
Refounding engineers act like founding engineers embedded in established companies. You'll work side by side with the people running Sequence's operating businesses, learn how each one works, and find where technology will have the most impact. You'll own problems from start to finish: choosing what to build, putting it into live operations and checking whether it actually improves results, whether that means redesigning a workflow or removing steps altogether.
Day to day that could mean joining up scattered data and legacy systems, building tools for front-line staff, or coordinating people and AI agents across a whole business process. You'll build on Atlas and feed reusable pieces back into it. You'll also help shape each transformation plan with engineers, strategists and investors, with the long-term aim of leading the refounding of an entire industry platform.
